7 Days for the Troops started as a fundraising event in 2006 and has grown into a 503(1)c nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting disabled veterans. In the first 16 years, 7 Days for the Troops events raised approximately $250,000 for veterans’ organizations including Purple Heart Homes and Warrior Bonfire.
The first 7 Days for the Troops event was held in Tupelo, Mississippi, where the organization is headquartered. Through the years, 7 Days for the Troops events have been held in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Florida and North Carolina.
At each 7 Days for the Troops event, Founder Scott Burns, a US Marine Corps veteran and amputee, camps out for seven days and seven nights as he hosts the fundraiser. The events feature music, community events, raffles and worship services.
Now as a nonprofit organization, 7 Days for the Troops will continue to work with our partners as well as take on special projects to assist disabled veterans with unmet needs. The first mission is to raise funds to purchase Track Chairs that will allow disabled veterans to participate in outdoor activities
